I wonder why they are seen in vegetarian recipe books, because they are part of the meat group in the food pyramid. They come from chickens and could potentially grow into chickens, so why it is considered okay (in mainstream society) to eat them if you’re a vegetarian? If I was a vegetarian, I would just strictly eat fruits, grains, and vegetables. Thanks for your help! I appreciate it.

Perhaps because the eggs are not fertilized, you are not technically killing any life when you eat them. This is also why some vegetarians consume dairy. Milking a cow does not really harm the animal. However, many vegetarians I know refrain from consuming any animal product at all because they believe animals shouldn't be raised in deplorable conditions just to please the human palate.

'Cause they don't have a face…..? A strict vegetarian who doesn't eat any animals products is a Vegan.

Some countries of the world consider Egg to be non-vegetarian. Vegetarians in these countries would never considering eating eggs.

A vegan does not eat eggs, a vegetarian does. Eggs have not been fertilized, do not have nerve endings, are not made to live in horrible conditions, and are not slaughtered.

Most veggies do buy free range and hormone free eggs.

There are different levels of vegetarianism. Some vegetarians don't eat the flesh of animals, but they eat some of the products that come from animals – like milk, cheese, eggs, etc. Others don't eat any products that come from animals and are called *strict* vegetarians, or vegans.

They "could" potentially become chickens but the ones that are farmed will never be a chicken since they are not fertilized. No vegetarian eats flesh but many do eat eggs and dairy because they are not flesh.

Because they're not meat, of course. And they're not about to become baby chickens unless they're fertilized, anymore than a human's egg without sperm will become a baby. It takes two to make babies.

An Egg is nothing but a bunch of Semen of a rooster !

People who hate to eat slaughtered Animals,
satisfies themselves by eating Eggs.
They think no animal is killed for this Egg, whereas
every Egg has a life.

Had anyone try a dead Egg ?

Because many are ignorant of the fact that eating an egg destroyes a life. Even if the eggs aren't 'fertilized', they still contain genetic material responsible for propagating life.
