from my experience working at different restaurants and cafes (and being vegan for the past ten years), i can tell you that most vegan restaurants are very sensitive to food allergies as well. the ones ive worked at have all been very careful to maintain gluten-free options and certain menu items consistent with other allergies.

depending on where you're at, id say just try your normal vegetarian/vegan restaurants and mention your allergies to your server and they would be able to help you out.

if you're in need to locating any vegan/veggie restaurants or food stores, i definitely keep www.happycow.com in my bookmarks. it lets you search based on location.

i tend to cook a ton and love having people over for meals, and if you do tell your host of your allergies, it's pretty likely they might take it as a fun challenge to come up with something they can prepare to include you in. i know i definitely would.

since you have food allergies: you definitely want to avoid genetically modified foods :: many of them are spliced with animals genes: so they wouldn't really be vegan anyways =\

If you are feeling social anxiety about your food allergies, then no obligation to tell the hosts of the dinner parties. Just bring a homemade dish to the dinner parties that you know is "safe" for you to eat. Cheers! :)

Can you eat anything with E.V.O.O.? (extra virgin olive oil) If so try grilling some portobello mushrooms, coating it with little bit of EVOO, and a dash of salt and some minced garlic. Stuff it wil grilled eggplants, or grilled bell peppers, or tofu... and then top it off with dried cranberries... then bake for about 15 min... it's awesome! < a new meal I just tried the other day!

Another thing you can try is grill some pineapple chunks, sweet potatoes (cut into squares), and a jicama (sliced into little lines). then top with a little honey (if you are a vegan that eats honey) or substitute honey with brown sugar, then sprinkle some hot peppers... It's a hot fruity salad!
