I’m a vegetarian and I’m going to a Chinese restaurant tonight with some friends. It seems like most Chinese dishes have some sort of meat in them. Can any other vegetarians recommend something to eat at a Chinese restaurant?
I’ve been debating vegetarianism for awhile now, and I would love to stop eating meat, but there a few things I still don’t get.
1. why do some vegetarians eat fish, while some do not? what are the main arguments for and against this, and why is fish a debatable meat?
2. how do vegetarians get enough protein? i’m not found of pills, and i’m sure there would be some other way. I believe thats probably the biggest problem for me with vegetarianism; it’d be really hard for me to get enough protein.
3. how does not eating meat affect your body? both positively and negatively.
thanks everyone, i know there were a lot of questions in this one.

Hi!
I'm getting married in November and the place that we have chosen to have our ceremony and reception specifies that they have to provide the food. They have a strictly Vegetarian selection and will serve no meat. However, they are willing to fix any vegetarian selections that I would like.
I would be fine with this as I love vegetarian dishes. However, none of the attendees will be vegetarians and there will be a few people who are die-hard meat and potato lovers (specifically, my husband-to-be).
I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a couple of vegetarian dishes that even those die-hard people would love. Something so darn yummy it will make them forget they are eating vegetarian
Any suggestions?
To answer the question that many have asked. I chose this place because it was inexpensive (a summer tourist location during the winter means they are looking for people to come), it was a beautiful ceremony location, it comes with a wedding planner, it's out of the ordinary, and I could get a package deal. Frankly, I'm happy with the food and so will most of my guests. It's just my grumpy-gus groom who is grumbling
And thank you thank you thank you… there are so many great ideas, I will definitely talk to the chef there to give them some ideas of what I'm looking for. I may even try some of these myself before the wedding to show my hubby-to-be that it's going to be okay.
My cooking skills are very limited, most of which are for non-vegetarian meals. What cookbooks are good beginners guides for vegetarians inexperienced in making vegetarian meals?
Just wondering cause a friend of mines roommate is a vegan and i had no idea what it was. What are the main reasons for becoming either? But gotta hand it to vegetarians, dont know how they do it, I live off my homegrown cheeseburgers.
What is in a vegetarian egg? I thought that vegetarians do not eat anything that once was living. Why cant vegetarian eat regular eggs?
I found this website that helps vegetarians with fast-food, and it warns that some restaurants cook vegetarian dishes in the same oil as the rest of their food. Is that a warning to all vegetarians or just some, like vegans?
I know several people who are vegetarians and they seem to be extremely healthy. I would like to try to become a vegetarian, for health reasons and the fact that it can make you lose weight. I like most fruits and veggies, but my entire life I have been eating meat. Chicken, beef, fish, liver mush, bacon etc. Has anyone here been a total carnivore and then did a complete 180 to a vegetarian? And also could you list some pros and cons of vegetarianism? Thank you in advance ![]()
My mom raised my brothers and I vegetarian (almost totally vegan) because of her beliefs regarding the killing of animals. However, neither my brothers nor I remained vegetarian.
One of my daughter's friends (age 10) is being raised vegetarian and my daughter wonders if she will eat meat someday. When I asked her what she thought, she told me that since everyone she knew who was raised vegetarian did not stay that way, that her friend won't either. I explained that everyone makes different decisions and her friend may be a vegetarian for life.
So now I'm curious if there has been a study of vegetarian families, and how often children of vegetarians choose to eat meat as adults. Were my brothers and I the rule, or the exception?

I started eating meat because I smelled it and it seems much more appetizing than the diet I grew up on. I still appreciate fresh vegetables (my dad is into gardening, I rarely tasted vegetables that weren't ultra-fresh) but I simply prefer the flavor of meats when given the choice.
