I am planning on becoming a vegetarian but I would like to know if anyone thinks that is good method to loose weight? What are the bad and good things about it? What are the types of food for vegetarians I know it’s no meat so what can we eat ?

Is it a healthy way to live? Also is it easy to stick with or do people usually go back to meat ? Thanks

Yes, but only if you make the right choices. I made the mistake of loading up on carbs and cheese instead of meat. This actually made me gain weight(in the 5 pound rage) luckily I caught myself, but you can easily eat very unhealthy if you don't know what your doing. So, eat Tofu, and light grains. Make Veggies a huge part of you diet. I learned the hard way, you don't have to.

The types of food that you can eat and still be a vegetarian vary. Some people eat fish and still consider themselves vegetarians. I personally have been a vegetarian for a little over 2 years now and I avoid meat, fish, and gelatin. Some people, vegans, won't eat anything that comes from an animal.. no eggs, milk, etc.

Being vegetarian can help you lose weight in some ways, because you definitely wont be eating fast food as much, and meats are definitely fatty. It can be a very healthy and nutritionally fulfilling lifestyle but like almost any other diet it is only that way if you try to be healthy. I still have my sweet tooth and that can cause some problems weight wise:) What is nice is that meat replacements usually have about as much protein as meat and less than half the fat.

It is easier than I thought it would be, most restaurants have vegetarian options now. Even if you love meat, there are plenty of meat replacements nowadays. The diet is also known to lower your risk of certain cancers and help your digestive system to function at its best. Getting protein is the biggest concern and that is not extremely difficult to do. Taking a multivitamin wouldn't hurt either.

Good luck!

it depends.
i mean, you could still eat french fries, potato chips, and ice cream for every meal; and that obviously wouldn't help you lose weight. (:
but, i lost a few pounds becoming a vegetarian.
good things are the extreme amount of health benefits, benefits for the environment, and saving so many animals' lives (:
bad things are that it's a little harder to get the essential nutrients, but that's about it.
vegetarians have SO MANY options to choose from now.
just google vegetarian recipes and you'll come up with like, a million recipes. you can eat pretty much everything except for meat, but there are actually a few "hidden non-vegetarian foods" like gelatin, marshmellows, and refried beans (but they have vegetarian versions of all of these things.)
it's EXTREMELY healthy – so much healthier than eating meat!
and, i found it very easy to stick with it. meat seems disgusting to me now(:

I've been a vegetarian my whole life, and I find meat disgusting.
You can basically eat anything and everything that isn't meat.
Tofu, Lentils, Beans, Veggies, Fruit, Bread, Dairy

I know no fat people who've been a vegetarian for a year or longer.
The only bad thing about it is that people who are used to eating meat sometimes miss meat. And everything else about it is good. You'll feel better, you'll be slimmer, it's better for your skin, you'll look better.
It's a very healthy way to live. (I can't say the same thing about vegan-ism, I don't know)

It depends whether or not you can be committed to being a vegetarian, that's a determining factor if you'll go bag to eating meat.

I hope I helped :)

You will loose weight as long as you don't eat too much cheese (high in fat) or too much bread/pasta. You should count your calories at the beginning and continue to exercise 1 hour per day. Eat lots of fruits, vegetables and legumes – drink plenty of water. You will feel great and loose weight in 3 – 6 weeks.

Yes if you substitute fatty meats for quorn and meat alternatives.
Grill them and eat them with healthy salads or veg.

Just remember- pizza, chips, garlic bread, butter, ice cream, mayo….
etc- are all veggie but contain LOADS of calories!!!

Good Luck, Jo x

Its a good way to lose weight. Remember that also being a vegetarian and wanting to lose weight you have to stay active and exercise. Some great foods that vegetarians and vegans eat are the 'fake meats' which are from brands like smartlife, boca, and morningstar. You will need to eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies also, organic if all possible will help even more. You can also eat nuts, which are high in protein, but if they have salt on them try to keep it to a minimum.

It is a very healthy way to live if you know how to be a vegetarian correctly. It is really an easy diet to stick to, just as long as you try new foods to see what you like. I've been a vegetarian for 7 years and a vegan for almost a year, so yes for me it was easy. But it really depends on the person and how determined they are to stay on the vegetarian diet.
